Meredith L. Farmer DNP, APRN, NNP-BC

Dr. Meredith Farmer is a dedicated NNP with over 20 years of experience in neonatal care. She began her nursing journey by earning her LPN and ADN from Wallace State Community College, followed by her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville State University and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She later completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Health Systems Leadership Degree from Emory University.

Dr. Farmer is the Director of the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Specialty and an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. In this role, she integrates her clinical expertise into her teaching while continuing to practice as an NNP with Marietta Neonatology in Marietta, Georgia.

Dr. Farmer's professional interests include enhancing the health and well-being of the neonatal nurse practitioner workforce and addressing issues related to shift length and fatigue among NNPs. She is committed to promoting equitable care for neonates and fostering diversity within the field of nursing. As part of these efforts, she is actively involved in initiatives aimed at improving recruitment and retention of underrepresented students in neonatal nurse practitioner programs.

In addition to her academic and clinical roles, Dr. Farmer is engaged in scholarship and professional service. She has authored multiple manuscripts, presented at national neonatal conferences and is currently conducting research on shift length, fatigue, and sleep quality in the neonatal workforce. She also serves on several committees focused on neonatal health, research and scholarship, furthering her commitment to advancing the field of neonatal nursing.
